Joe and Lidia Bastianich, after years of experience around the world, have retuned to Italy to realize their Italian restaurant dream with Orsone: Ristorante, Taverna and B&B.

Located among the family vineyards just minutes outside Cividale del Friuli, Orsone was born of a strong attachment to the territory. A cozy, welcoming place with an international feel.

Raw materials and great traditional dishes are revised with a personal touch, creating an “italo-newyorkese” contemporary style experienced only in Italy’s first Bastianich restaurant.

A menu constantly adapting to the changes in the Seasons, connecting the great classics of Lidia and discovering new combinations. The wine list, along with all the wines of the Bastianich winery, also offers a selection of the best Italian wines, with particular attention dedicated to Colli Orientali del Friuli.

A style of cuisine that is born of the study and respect of quality ingredients, prepared and appreciated, together with an eye toward the International. Raw materials take center stage along with unique, clean flavors.

The dessert menu plays with the balance of sweet and salty, drawing inspiration from the garden.


The kitchen team mixes the twin spirits of Orsone in a unique italo-american flavor: part of the team comes directly from Del Posto, the Bastianich/Batali restaurant that is the only 4-star NY Times Italian venue in the city.
Eduardo Valle Lobo – executive chef – under the supervision of Lidia Bastianich and assisted by Kelly Jeun – executive sous chef – are in charge of the menu.

The dessert menu is the creation of Annie Dearborn, in collaboration with Brooks Headly, pastry chef at Del Posto and winner of Pasrty Chef of the Year 2013 from the James Beard Foundation.

To complete the team we have some Italian influence with Friulian natives Marco Meduri on primi and Andrea Fantini on secondi.


A modern and welcoming dining room of warm colors that offers guests an intimate atmosphere, looking out over the vineyards and with a view of the kitchen.
A private room, ideal for events and business meetings, is available for a maximum of 12 people.
Leading the staff is GM Andrea Sbrizzo who has returned to his Friulian home after seven years at Del Posto.

A place to meet TAVERNA

Informal and warm the Tavern is at the entrance of the restaurant where one can pass various moments during the day: from lunch to a gourmet dinner, and also for aperitivi, Bastianich wine tastings and delicious afternoon snacks.

The stars of the menu, simpler and more casual than the formal Ristorante, are the cornerstones of American cuisine. To accompany them, a rich list of wines, also by the glass, artisenal beers cocktalis, teas and juices.


The wine list features the best cellars of Friuli with special attention to the Colli Orientali DOC region. A generous by the glass selection is available, concentrating on the full line of Bastiancjh wines and selected wines from the Ristorante list. Artesenal beers, drinks and liquors round dout the offereings. Classic cocktails also have their place, along with specials created just for Orsone.

Specials based on the season or upon the creatività of the kitchen, alternate with the staples of the Taverna such as the Calabrone Burger – with carmelized onions and gorgonzola cheese- or the Lobster Roll – in the grand tradition of the atlantic coast.

Four double rooms, furnished in natural materials and earth tones leave the colors of the surrounding nature resound through the ample windows.

The town of Cividale del Friuli, founded by the romans along the banks of the Natisone River, is characterized by colorful atmosphere felt crossing the “Devil’s Bridge” and visiting the Temple of the Longobards, the Duomo and artesenal workshops and antique markets that liven the town every fouth Sunday of the month.

Available for guests: multilingual information, tourist guides and upon request, guided tours and tastings in the wineries of Colli Orentali. Also available, tickets for local events, shuttle service and for those with more sporting aspirations, mountain bikes with trail guides.


Breakfast, with pastries and other treats, is prepared fresh every day in the kitchen and is served in the Restaurant, while sweets, cookies, tea and coffee are always available in the atrium. Room service is available from the bar and from the Taverna menu.
